Pixeye

Privacy policy

Effective 11 October 2026 · Applies to the Pixeye app for iPhone and Android, and to this website

Short version. Pixeye has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics. Your test results are stored on your phone and never sent to us. The camera and microphone are used during the tests, on the phone, without recording anything. Only the Pixeye Plus purchase goes through an outside service, RevenueCat, which sees your purchases and nothing else.

Who we are

Pixeye is published by Hinoro Studio (EI), a sole-proprietor business registered in France (see the legal notice). For any question about your data, write to support@pixeye.app.

Your results stay on your phone

Eye test results are health data. That is why the app keeps them on your phone, in its private storage, and never sends them anywhere: not to us, not to an analytics service, not to RevenueCat. We have no access to them.

The app stores:

You can delete all your results in the app (Settings, "Delete all my results"). They are also deleted when you remove the app. If your phone backs up app data to iCloud or Google, your results are part of that backup, under Apple's or Google's terms and your phone's settings.

When you share a score or a PDF report, you choose who gets it, through your phone's share sheet. The file goes to the app you pick (Mail, Messages…), under that app's rules. We never receive it.

The camera and face data

To draw the tests at the right size, Pixeye measures the distance between your eyes and the screen with the front camera:

This face data (the position of the eyes, the outline of the iris) is used only to compute the distance, live. Each frame is analysed on the phone and then discarded: no image, no video and no face data is stored, sent, shared, or used to recognise you or for advertising. The camera is only on during the tests that need the distance.

The microphone and speech recognition

In the distance tests, with the phone standing 2 to 3 meters away, you can answer out loud ("up", "left"…). Your voice is recognised on the phone, by the system's speech recognition in offline mode: nothing is recorded or sent. If your phone cannot recognise speech offline, Pixeye does not offer voice answers, and another person can tap your answers instead. The microphone is only used during these tests.

Permissions

PermissionWhyWhere the data goes

Each permission is only requested when a test needs it. If you decline, the other tests still work.

Buying Pixeye Plus

Pixeye Plus is a one-time purchase. Payment is handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play): we never see your payment details.

To check the purchase and restore it on a new phone, the app uses RevenueCat, a service of RevenueCat, Inc. (United States). RevenueCat receives:

RevenueCat never receives your test results. It processes this data on our behalf under its privacy policy, and keeps it for as long as it is needed to check your purchases. The transfer to the United States is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. The legal basis is the performance of the purchase contract (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).

What we do not do

If we ever add anonymous usage measurement or crash reports, this policy will be updated first, with what is sent and how to turn it off. They will never contain test results.

Apple and Google data

Apple and Google may collect download statistics and crash reports about the app, depending on your phone's settings and their own policies. We only see an anonymous summary in their developer consoles.

Children

The colour tests have a version with shapes instead of numbers, to take with a child. The app collects no data about the child or anyone else: the results stay on the phone, like all the others.

This website

pixeye.app is hosted on Firebase Hosting (Google). Like any host, Google records visitors' IP addresses in its technical logs, for security and to run the service. The site uses no cookies, no analytics, and no third-party fonts or scripts.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and French law, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, portability and objection. Your results are on your phone, under your control: you can export them as a PDF or delete them in the app. For the RevenueCat data, write to us at support@pixeye.app: since it is anonymous, we will ask you for the transaction ID of your purchase (on your Apple or Google receipt) to find it. If you write to us, we keep the conversation for as long as it takes to answer and follow up. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority.

Changes

When this policy changes, the new version is published at pixeye.app/en/privacy with its effective date. Significant changes are also mentioned in the app's release notes.
